In Memoriam
It is with a heavy heart that I share with you that my beloved Mom passed on August 30, 2017. She was surrounded by her family: my sister, Benita, her wife, Karen, my daughter, Lauren, and Mom’s long-time caregiver, Pat.
My mom has been such a huge inspiration for me, and, if not for her, I wouldn’t be as driven and ultimately as successful as I am today. She taught me core values that have served me well over the years, and which I would like to share with you.
EDUCATION: Get it. Without it, you’ll struggle. As a woman and as an African American, education will be the great differentiator and help to give you the confidence you need to achieve bigger and greater things.
FAMILY: No matter what happens, our family will always stand beside you.
INTEGRITY: Always do the right thing, even if it hurts.
WORK HARD: You’ll relish your successes so much more.
TRAVEL: Get out of your safe space and see the world.
AGE: It’s just a number. Stay active; stay engaged; keep learning and growing.
GIVE BACK: Whether it’s time, talent, or treasure.
Miss you, Mom. Thank you.
